To load a flower cartridge, remove the FLWRCOIL igniter cap, fill the glass chamber about three-quarters full with whole flower — use nugs, don't grind — then reattach the cap. Attach it to a 510 battery, push the wooden mouthpiece to advance the flower to the coil, and press the button for real smoke.
That's the whole process. Below is each step, plus the one thing most people get wrong.
What you need
Three things, two of which you already have:
- Your flower cartridge — the glass chamber, the FLWRCOIL igniter cap, the wooden mouthpiece.
- A 510 battery — any standard 510-thread battery works. You bring your own.
- Whole flower — your flower, your strain. The cartridge ships empty; you load it.
No grinder. That's not an oversight — it's the point, and we'll get to why.
Step 1 — Take off the cap
Pull off the FLWRCOIL igniter cap to open the glass chamber. This is where the flower goes.
Step 2 — Load whole nugs, about three-quarters full
Break a nug into pieces small enough to drop into the chamber and fill it to about three-quarters. Leave room — don't pack it tight, don't cram it to the top. The flower should sit loosely enough that air can move through it.
Use whole flower broken to fit. Do not grind it. (The next section explains why this matters more than it sounds like it should.)
Step 3 — Reattach the cap
Put the FLWRCOIL igniter cap back on the loaded chamber. The flower is now sealed between the chamber and the coil, ready to combust.
Step 4 — Attach to your 510 battery
Thread the cartridge onto your 510 battery. If your battery has variable voltage, FLWRCRT operates in the 3.5V–4.5V range. Lower voltage gives a smoother draw; higher voltage burns faster and harder. Start at the low end and dial up to your preference.
Step 5 — Advance the flower and fire
Push the wooden mouthpiece in. This advances the flower so it makes contact with the FLWRCOIL. Hold the battery button, and within a couple of seconds the chamber fills with smoke. Draw it through the mouthpiece.
That's a session. Real smoke, real flower, no flame.
Why nugs, not ground
This is the part worth slowing down on, because it's the one instruction people are tempted to ignore — everyone's been told to grind.
Ground flower doesn't work well here, and there's a physical reason. When you grind, you pack a huge amount of surface area into a small space, and it settles dense. In the chamber, that dense, fine material burns too hot and too fast — it lights all at once instead of combusting steadily. You get a harsh, ashy pull and a chamber full of spent material almost immediately.
Whole flower behaves differently. Broken into pieces but left intact, it has gaps — air moves through it, and it combusts progressively, the way the coil is designed for. The pieces nearest the FLWRCOIL burn first; the rest waits its turn. Steadier burn, cleaner smoke, less waste.
There's a second reason, and it's the one that connects to why flower is worth smoking at all: grinding starts the clock on the fragile stuff. The volatile compounds — the terpenes and aromatics that give flower its character — begin evaporating the moment you increase surface area. Grind your flower and you've already lost some of what you packed it for. Drop in a whole nug and it stays intact until the coil reaches it.
So "use nugs, don't grind" isn't a quirk of this particular device. It's how you get a clean burn and keep the flower's best qualities until the moment you actually smoke it.
The leftover — what we call the roach
One thing you'll notice: when you've taken your hits, there's a bit of spent flower left in the chamber. You could push for more, but at that point it's ashy and not worth it — same as the last stretch of a joint nobody really smokes.
We call that the roach. Pop it out, and you're ready to load fresh. Very few people smoke a joint down to absolutely nothing because the end gets harsh; the flower cartridge is no different. The roach is just the part you don't bother with.
Keeping it clean
The FLWRCOIL igniter cap is the one wear part — it's highly reusable, and you swap it for a fresh one when you notice the burn losing consistency. The glass chamber and mouthpiece you keep. Empty the chamber between loads, and give it a wipe when it needs it.
